A Library Burned June 15th, 2010
Last week, on June 15th 2010, a library burned. No, it wasn’t a brick structured filled with books. It wasn’t a gathering place for researchers of long gone families.
My grandfather, Ulyssis Lamar Floyd, passed away.He was a wealth of knowledge and wisdom…and all of that is now gone, lost to those of us left behind.
Luckily we were able to hear many of the stories of his childhood, listen to the wisdom cominng from such a wonderful man.
What about you? If you’re the oldest in your family have you written down everything you need to write down? The stories, the knowledge…will it all be lost when you pass on?This has been a real wake up call for me and others in the family. We don’t want our stories, our life lessons, to be lost…we’re writing them down.
