Another Library Burned….

Juanita F. (Brown) Dooley

On December 29, 2011, a library burned to the ground.  No, it isn’t a library just anyone could visit.  This library was a wealth of information, available to anyone in the family who had the desire to reach out and get it.

My grandmother, Juanita F. (Brown) Dooley passed away that day.  She was the daughter of the late Robert and Mary Jane (Sweeney) Brown of Salem, Washington County, Indiana.

She was the first, and so far only, woman commander of the Indiana DAV.  She served as a WAC in WWII,  She was also a member of the American Legion.   She logged in over 18,000 hours of volunteer service to other disabled American veterans.  She was an amazing woman, one I’m proud to call my grandmother.

We miss you Mammaw, and we’ll see you again someday!
